Most tourism standard hotels and notable towns have international direct dialing as well as telex and fax facilities. Internet cafes and International calls are available only in Ulaanbaatar and bigger towns.

Travelers are advised to carry travel insurance which includes an emergency evacuation clause in case of very serious illness or injury. Travelers should bring their own medical supplies for any personal needs, as well as basic medical kit. Although no vaccinations are required, budget travelers are recommended to have vaccine against Hepatitis (both A and B) and Meningitis A & C. This is particularly important, if traveling with children.

Valid Passports and Visas are required by most countries except the citizens of USA, Israel, Poland and Kazakhstan. No vaccination required from any country. An invitation paper must be issued by a travel agent, company or a Mongolian citizen via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UB.
