In
November 2001, I served as the Expedition Leader for a NASA-sponsored
campaign to observe the Leonid meteor shower from the Astronomical Observatory
of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences located outside the Nation’s
Capitol, Ulaan Bator. The success of this campaign relied, in part,
on being able to acquire the necessary materials and supplies from local
businesses as well as being able to deploy our equipment - on short
notice - to locations other than the Observatory in the event of poor
weather. |
Fortunately, Mongolia Trekking Co. Ltd. was able to provide my team
with the needed specialized in-country support and the campaign was
unqualified scientific success. Timur, Mongolia Trekking’s General
Manager, and his staff delivered excellent service providing us with
transportation (at all hours), leisure information, guided tours and
even served as the team’s interpreter.
As
our interpreter, I was very pleased to find that Timur had an excellent
command of the English language, which greatly simplified our business
and recreational activities. If you are planning a visit to Mongolia
and are seeking an honest and reliable Tour Company, I would highly
recommend that you consider retaining the services of Mongol Trekking.
Good Luck in your Travels, Kerry J. Ellis Western

Mongolia
Trekking Company is proud to be associated with the NASA
Astronomy Research Team. They and their research were so unusual
thus we had to think about something different in our services.
We tried to give well customized and special care to the scientists.
Sudden changes in weather, cold temperatures and clouds were really
something to worry about. Only a little cloud or stronger breeze
could easily ruin so much international scientific effort. Anyway,
thankfully, the weather has proved again Mongolia's famous subtitle
